The people we choose as a society to celebrate and make famous is depressing. It shows how stupid and brain dead we truly are. Liking literature, knowing about history, understanding scientific principles is seen as snooty and snob. On the other hand, reading on a daily basis about the lives of reality tv stars, brainless actors, talentless singers and overpaid athletes is seen as cool and normal.
